Domaine
les Yeuses
Languedoc, Vin de Pays dOc
Vin de Pays dOc was created specifically to allow and encourage
producers to make wines from single grape varieties, many of them classics
from other areas of France. Past practice had generally and unfortunately
meant by the 1970s making as much thin wine from poor varieties
such as Aramon and Alicante Bouchet as possible, but now some producers
are making stunning wines. Domaine les Yeuses planted a range of cepages
amélioratives, all of which are well-made. The best two are the
Syrah and the Vermentino.
The Syrah is juicy and dry, spicy and round, with a distinctive inky/peppery
flavour unique to Syrah. A good everyday wine with plenty of fruit, but
also surprisingly serious. Order this wine
Vermentino, also called Rolle, is a relatively little known variety capable
of delivering wines of structure, fruit and balance. This one has a lovely
texture, is attractively juicy, with white peach fruit and some length.
Let the good times Rolle! Order this wine
